Course Overview
In this course, you will learn the medical terminology of basic anatomy and physiology of the human body. Based on the foundation gained from Anatomy and Terminology 1, you will build and define more medical terms and expand on your knowledge of medical abbreviations. You will gain knowledge of the blood, lymphatic, musculoskeletal, skin, sensory, and endocrine systems. There is an emphasis on pathology, diagnostic testing, and clinical procedures. Successful completion of this course will prepare you for 1048 Medical Transcription Skills.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define medical terms by breaking them down into component parts (prefixes, combining forms, and suffixes).
- Correctly pronounce medical terms using the pronunciation guidelines in Anatomy and Terminology 1.
- Build medical terms by correctly utilizing medical prefixes, combining forms, and suffixes.
- Define terms related to the structural organization of the human body.
- Name the organs and associated structures of the blood, lymphatic, musculoskeletal, skin, sensory, and endocrine systems.
- Describe the pathology related to the blood, lymphatic, musculoskeletal, skin, sensory, and endocrine systems.
- State the meaning of medical abbreviations related to body systems and diagnostic methods.
- Describe the need for pharmacological knowledge when following instructions.
- Differentiate between controlled and regular prescriptions.
- Describe drug administration routes, action terms, and how drug administration routes affect the body.
- Describe the classification systems for naming malignant tumors.
- Define the medical terms used to describe the appearance, growth, and spread of malignant tumors.
- Describe the different treatment methods used in oncology.
- Define the medical terms used to describe the issues related to mental health illnesses.
- Differentiate between psychology and psychiatry.
- Compare tests used to evaluate mental health illnesses.
