Industry Supporters

Thank you to our industry supporters

Industry partners are strengthening the future of the trades. Their support helps bring diverse talent into the workforce, addressing critical labour shortages. By investing in students, sponsors are ensuring the skilled trades remain innovative and resilient. Here are some of our current supporters:

Since 2001, Concert Properties and the Industry Partners Construction Trades Discovery Fund has supported BCIT Trades Discovery students entering skilled trades training and careers. To date, hundreds of plumbers, electricians, sheet metal workers, ironworkers, heavy mechanical technicians and more have successful careers in the construction sector thanks to the backing of Concert Properties and their industry partners.

Starting in 2023, Coast Capital Savings has financed tuition for nearly 100 women to be able to complete the 16-week Trades Discovery program for women at BCIT. In addition to removing financial barriers to access education, Coast Capitals’ Social Purpose has provided mental health first aid training and career path planning support.

BCIT Trades Discovery for Women is honoured to have been selected as the only Canadian recipient of support from KEEN Utility. KEEN is supporting non-profits, providing access to quality skills-based education, networking, and empowerment for girls and women looking to join the trades. They’ve committed $1+ million in resources over 5 years to help provide a solid foundation for a new generation of women workers in North America.

Through the FLUOR Foundation, Trades Discovery students have access to mental health first aid. An estimated 83% of workers in the construction sector report experiencing mental health struggles and substance abuse, these rates are nearly double the national average. By providing access to mental health training, students are able to recognize and respond to signs of mental health problems or crises in others and provide initial support.

Our trades exploration programs include a two-week unpaid work practicum. Here are some of our industry partners who provide opportunities for our students to experience hands-on trades positions:
