Goods that are being shipped (imported or exported) to/from Canada require clearance through Canada Customs. This includes “free” or “loaner” items, including books. When BCIT is responsible for customs clearance, it is very important that out-of-country shipper know that parking slips and waybills MUST indicate the name of BCIT’s customs broker, Davidson and Sons.

An exception exists for goods being shipped via mail where Canada Post is doing the customs clearing. Canada Post will-for a small charge-clear goods on behalf of BCIT.

In addition to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the Provincial Sales Tax (PST), duties and excise tax may also apply to goods being imported into Canada.

You may contact Purchasing for additional information or detailed customs information is available the Canada Border Services Agency website.
