The Diesel Engine Mechanic (DEM) apprenticeship program requires time spent on the job and in-school training. A Diesel Engine Mechanic trainee must complete a two-year program including workplace and in-school hours of training as follows:
After completion of training, a passing grade on the interprovincial exam will result in the ITA Certificate of Qualification (Diesel Engine Mechanic) and a Certificate of Apprenticeship (BC).
