This course meets the Physics 12 entrance requirement for BCIT programs with this requirement. This course offers a continuation of an introduction to Physics and its basic principles. Emphasis is placed on good problem solving techniques and practical applications relevant to BCIT programs. Topics include one and two dimensional kinematics, vectors, dynamics, work and energy, circular motion and gravitation, one and two dimensional linear momentum, static translational and rotational equilibrium, electrostatics, direct current circuits, magnetism and electromagnetic induction.
** IMPORTANT INFORMATION - READ CAREFULLY AND READ IN FULL BEFORE REGISTERING ** This course will accommodate both synchronous and asynchronous learners. All course content (including labs) will be delivered remotely. Synchronous sessions will be held at scheduled class times and all students are encouraged to attend. For students unable to attend synchronous classes, recordings of all lectures and course material will be distributed online. All students, whether synchronous or asynchronous, must attend synchronous midterm and final exam sessions. Additionally, both synchronous and asynchronous learners are expected to complete assignments and lab exercises according to the same schedule. Remote delivery of all course content does not require students to be physically on campus at any time. A computer with access to the internet is required. The course instructor will communicate with students through BCIT's Learning Hub therefore it is important that students sign on to the Learning Hub prior to the course start date to review any messages he may have posted. Class will not be held on the following 4 evenings - Monday February 15th, Monday March 15th, Wednesday March 17th and Monday April 5th. Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents are exempt from payment of the TUITION portion ($684.48) of this course. If you are registering through the online system and are exempt from payment of the TUITION portion ($684.48), your account will be adjusted within 2 business days after registration. ANCILLARY fees such as the Student Association fee, the BCIT Student ID Card fee, etc. WILL BE CHARGED to ALL students and MUST BE PAID by ALL students. Students need to log into their my.bcit.ca account within 2 days after registering to make payment for the ANCILLARY fees. THIS PAYMENT IS REQUIRED TO SECURE A SEAT IN THE COURSE. Non-payment within the specified time period will result in the student being dropped from the course without prior notice therefore it is the STUDENT's responsibility to ensure that fees owing are paid on time. Any student who withdraws from the course AFTER it has begun will not be permitted to re-register and re-join the learning activities this pts Winter 202110 term.
