Course Details

This course meets the Physics 12 entrance requirement for BCIT programs with this requirement. This course offers a continuation of an introduction to Physics and its basic principles. Emphasis is placed on good problem solving techniques and practical applications relevant to BCIT programs. Topics include one and two dimensional kinematics, vectors, dynamics, work and energy, circular motion and gravitation, one and two dimensional linear momentum, static translational and rotational equilibrium, electrostatics, direct current circuits, magnetism and electromagnetic induction.

  1. ** IMPORTANT INFORMATION - READ CAREFULLY AND READ IN FULL BEFORE REGISTERING ** This course will be delivered in a blended format; typically one class each week will be online, and one class each week will be in-person at the Burnaby campus. The first class will be held online, on Learning Hub (learn.bcit.ca), and the detailed term schedule will be discussed at that time. In-person sessions will mainly be used for lab exercises and exams. A computer with access to the internet is required for the online portion of the course. We recognize that the pandemic trajectory is unpredictable, and we are committed to educational quality and safety. If necessary, the instructor is prepared to switch to full online delivery of course content, in accordance with public health and safety guidelines. Class will not be held on Thursday September 30th; instead class will be held on Wednesday September 29th. Class will be held on Thursday November 11th. Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents are exempt from payment of the TUITION portion ($698.17) of this course. If you are registering through the online system and are exempt from payment of the TUITION portion ($698.17) your account will be adjusted within 2 business days after registration. ANCILLARY fees associated with registration in this course WILL BE CHARGED to ALL students and MUST BE PAID BY ALL STUDENTS AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION - students need to log into their my.bcit.ca account to make payment. THIS PAYMENT IS REQUIRED TO SECURE A SEAT IN THE COURSE. Non-payment at the time of registration will result in the student being dropped from the course without prior notice therefore it is the STUDENT's responsibility to ensure this payment is made. Any student who withdraws from the course AFTER it has begun will not be permitted to re-register and re-join the learning activities this pts 202130 term.
