An upgrading course for students who have not completed high school mathematics, or who don’t meet program math entrance requirements, or whose math background is otherwise weak. Meets Principles of Math 12 or Pre-Calculus 12 requirements for BCIT Engineering Technology, Health Science or Computer Technology programs. Course start dates are January, April, May, June and September.

  • Grade 11 Pre-Calculus or equivalent OR BCIT MATH 0007.

The TUITION portion of this course is free for Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents. Please note: ANCILLARY fees such as Student Association fees, BCIT Student ID Card fees, etc. WILL BE CHARGED to ALL students and MUST BE PAID by ALL students within 2 business days of registration. **THIS PAYMENT IS REQUIRED TO SECURE A SEAT IN THE COURSE.** You will be dropped from the course if ancillary fees are not paid within the deadline. Please be sure to ask the Registrar's office of payment options and deadlines. Registration is on a first-come first-served basis. Once full there will be NO exceptions and there is NO waitlist. Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:

  • Use the rules for approximate number calculations.
  • Convert and reduce units.
  • Operate with signed numbers.
  • Manipulate and simplify algebraic expressions.
  • Solve simple, quadratic and simultaneous linear equations.
  • Solve problems using algebraic variation.
  • Apply mensuration formula to solve geometric problems.
  • Solve geometric problems using Pythagoras' Theory and similar triangles.
  • Graph simple algebraic functions.
  • Use the fundamental laws of logarithms to solve exponential and logarithmic problems.
  • Solve triangles using trigonometry.
  • Determine the resultant of two or more vectors.
