Course Details

​The Physics 12 Challenge Exam allows students to demonstrate the required physics knowledge and skills at the British Columbia grade 12 level. It covers material related to the topics of graphical methods, vectors, kinematics, dynamics, work, energy and power, momentum, equilibrium, circular motion, gravitation, electrostatics, electric circuits, electromagnetism. For more information on the topics tested refer to the PRESCRIBED LEARNING OUTCOMES pages on the following website - www.bced.gov.bc.ca/irp/pdfs/sciences/2006physics1112.pdf. Students must review their program entrance requirements to determine the minimum acceptable exam grade.

  1. ** IMPORTANT INFORMATION - READ CAREFULLY AND READ IN FULL ** The PHYS 0120 exam fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. Students can only write the exam ONCE. If a student registers and writes the exam a second time they will be given the mark from their first writing. Students are required to bring to the exam writing: (1) one piece of valid photo identification (a BCIT Student ID card, Driver's License, BC Services Card or Passport), (2) a printed tuition receipt from my.bcit.ca -> Student Self Service menu or from BCIT's Registration department, (3) a scientific calculator (phones and computers are NOT allowed), (4) pen/pencil and eraser. Students will not be permitted to write the exam without the required documentation and the exam fee will be forfeited. Students must arrive at the exam location at least 15 minutes prior to the exam start time for ID and exam fee payment verification The PHYS 0120 exam is designed for those students who are well versed in the topics covered in the BC Physics 12 curriculum and who previously scored a mark equivalent to or exceeding the mark required by their program of choice. It is the STUDENT's responsibility to review their program entrance requirements to determine the minimum acceptable exam grade. The PHYS 0120 exam is paper-based and a formula sheet will be handed out with the exam. The maximum time allowed to write this exam is 4 hours. To obtain information pertaining to the topics tested refer to the Prescribed Learning Outcomes pages on the following website - www.bced.gov.bc.ca/irp/pdfs/sciences/2006physics1112.pdf. NO information will be provided to students regarding the format of the PHYS 0120 exam. There is NO instructor support available to students to prepare for the PHYS 0120 exam. There is NO practice exam available to students to prepare for the PHYS 0120 exam. There are NO study materials provided to students to prepare for the PHYS 0120 exam. There are NO study material suggestions or recommendations provided to students to prepare for the PHYS 0120 exam - students must do their own research for any study materials they may need to prepare for the exam. Exam grades will be available to students online through my.bcit.ca -> Student Self Service menu in the Check grades section within 2 weeks following the exam writing date.
