Course details

​The Physics 11 Challenge Exam allows students to demonstrate the required physics knowledge and skills at the British Columbia grade 11 level. It covers material related to the topics of graphical analysis, kinematics, forces, energy, heat, waves, and electric circuits. To obtain further information pertaining to topics tested refer to the following curriculum.gov.bc.ca/curriculum/science/11/physics . Students must review their program entrance requirements to determine the minimum acceptable exam grade. The challenge exam may only be taken ONCE.

  2. ** IMPORTANT INFORMATION - READ CAREFULLY BEFORE REGISTERING ** Students can only write this exam ONCE. This exam will be written ONLINE. The online writing does not require students to be physically on campus. A computer with a camera/webcam and internet access is required. The PHYS 0110 exam fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and MUST BE PAID AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION. Non-payment upon registration will result in the student being dropped from the exam writing without prior notice. The exam instructor will communicate with students via BCIT’s Learning Hub therefore it is important that students sign on to the Learning Hub prior to the exam date to review any messages. The PHYS 0110 exam is designed for those students who are well versed in the topics covered in the BC Physics 11 curriculum and who previously scored a mark equivalent to or exceeding the mark required by their program of choice. It is the STUDENT's responsibility to review their program entrance requirements to determine the minimum acceptable exam grade. Topics on the exam correspond to the current BC Physics 11 curriculum. A PDF version can be viewed here: curriculum.gov.bc.ca/sites/curriculum.gov.bc.ca/files/curriculum/science/en_science_11_physics_elab.pdf. Students must log in online at least 15 minutes prior to the start time for ID and payment verification. A formula sheet will be included with the exam. The maximum time allowed to write the exam is 3 hours. Grades will be available online through my.bcit.ca -> Student Self Service menu in the Check Grades section within 2 weeks following the exam writing date.

  2. ** IMPORTANT INFORMATION - READ CAREFULLY AND READ IN FULL BEFORE REGISTERING ** Students can only write this exam ONCE. The PHYS 0110 exam fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and MUST BE PAID AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION. Non-payment upon registration will result in the student being dropped from the exam writing without prior notice. This exam will be written in-person at the Burnaby Campus. Students are required to bring to the exam: (1) one piece of valid photo identification (a BCIT Student ID card, Driver's License, BC Services Card or Passport), (2) a printed registration/fee payment receipt from my.bcit.ca -> Student Self Service menu or from BCIT's Registration department, (3) a scientific calculator (phones and computers are NOT allowed), (4) pen/pencil and eraser. Students will not be permitted to write the exam without the required documentation and the fee will be forfeited. The PHYS 0110 exam is designed for those students who are well versed in the topics covered in the BC Physics 11 curriculum and who previously scored a mark equivalent to or exceeding the mark required by their program of choice. It is the STUDENT's responsibility to review their program entrance requirements to determine the minimum acceptable exam grade. Topics on the exam correspond to the current BC Physics 11 curriculum.
