Overview
This micro-credential will enable learners to acquire knowledge related to network security and demonstrate mitigating strategies and methods for securing IT networks. Designed for network administrators currently working in the IT sectors, students will learn how to protect data and systems and minimize network risks.

This micro-credential is comprised of five cybersecurity badges that are in high demand and will not only prepare learners for how to identify, analyze, and implement security best practices but will also serve to close the ever-growing cybersecurity skills gaps in the industry.

Recommended for success
To be successful in this program, students will require:
- Basic knowledge of networking and OS
- PC or laptop (minimum 16G RAM)
- Internet connection
International applicants
This program is available to international applicants who will complete the program from outside Canada or who currently have a valid status in Canada other than study permit. International applicants accepted into this program are not eligible for a study permit.
Apply to program
Formal application to the microcredential is not required. Upon successful completion of the courses, email the program contact with your full name, student number, and mailing address to be issued a microcredential.

This self-paced program can be completed in one year.
Grading
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a badge that attests to the mastery of new acquired skills. Evaluation methods will include a mix of hands-on, practical scenario-based simulations and written exams (multiple-choice, short answers, true/false questions) to evaluate knowledge of learners.

Continue your education
Students in the full-time Computer Information Systems Administration diploma program who complete four of the five microcredential courses can recieve credit towards CISA 3370 or CISA 4370 through Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR) assessment.

- Hamid Talebi: Instructor and course developer
- Instructor Bio
Hamid Talebi is an IT engineer with 14 years of experience. He has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Network Security. He has expertise and experience working with FortiGate and Palo Alto Firewalls, and SIEM software such as Qradar IBM, FortiSIEM, Splunk, and ArcSight. Before joining BCIT, Hamid held multiple roles IT security roles with a number of reputable organizations, such as the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity and Bell. Hamidreza has taught Network Security Fundamentals, Enterprise Network Security (FortiGate), Advanced Network Security ( Palo Alto – Splunk – FortiSIEM), and Network Programming with Python.
