Open Access

Open Access is the free, immediate, online availability of research articles coupled with the rights to use these articles fully in the digital environment. Open Access ensures that anyone can access and use these results—to turn ideas into industries and breakthroughs into better lives. – SPARC

  • Gold Open Access: Articles are made openly available by the publisher, but authors (or their institutions or funders) pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) to cover publishing costs. BCIT Library Services is not able to assist with the cost of APCs, but please contact Ian Linkletter if you learn of a grant opportunity to share on this page.
  • Green Open Access: Authors share a copy of their work in a public repository for free worldwide access. BCIT publishes scholarly work in the Institutional Repository. Contact a librarian for assistance with this process.
  • Diamond Open Access: The journal or platform does not charge readers or authors any fees.
