Course Overview
Covers general theories of measurement and pricing of construction work, with emphasis on multi-family residential and light commercial. Introduces specific methods of measurement, estimating forms, and common techniques used for quantity take-off with a focus on concrete, earthwork, masonry, structural steel and wood-frame items. Introduces pricing concepts such as material, labour and equipment unit rates, labour and equipment productivities, material coverage and historical data. Covers pricing of various construction items with a focus on wood, formwork and drywall items.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Break down quantities of work according to CIQS Method of Measurement
- Utilize standard estimating Quantity Sheets to measure Div 3, 4, 5, 6 and 31 items
- Minimize the possibilities for estimating errors by using systematic methodologies of data evaluation and inputting
- Utilize standard estimating recapitulation forms and pricing tables to price material, labour and equipment items
- Calculate material, labour and equipment unit prices using labour wage rates, productivities, material coverages, quotations, RS Means publications and historical costs
