Focuses on the leadership role of supervisors and managers at the front-line of organizational performance. Also, focuses on developing team performance, collaborating effectively with others, problem solving, managing change and fostering innovation.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Leadership Skills as Applied to Followers
- Define motivation, satisfaction, engagement, performance, and effectiveness and how they influence follower motivation.
- Illustrate how to improve follower satisfaction and employee engagement.
- Differentiate between organizational justice and the two-factor theory.
- Appraise the use of the performance management cycle and evaluating follower potential to manage unit and team effectiveness.
- Contrast individuals, group, and teams, discuss effective teams, team building, and the team leadership model, review the nature of virtual teams and describe collective leadership and clusters, two emerging themes in leading groups and teams.
- Demonstrate the setting of effective goals, providing constructive criticism, coaching and effective delegation.
- Determine what constitutes team building in work teams and generalize how to build high-performance teams using the rocket model.
- Leadership Skills as Applied to Situations
- Define how tasks vary as well as their problems and challenges.
- Clarify the formal and informal organization and the theory of organizational culture and the organizational environment.
- Articulate, generalize, and apply the Leader-Member Exchange Theory, the Situational Leadership Model, Contingency Model, and Path-Goal Theory of leadership.
- Compare and contrast the rational approach to organizational change with the emotional approach to organizational change, including charismatic and transformational leadership.
- Clarify destructive leadership and how it is brought on by managerial incompetence managerial derailment.
- Create a compelling leadership vision by diagnosing performance strengths and problems in individuals, groups, and organizations.
- Identify, manage, and resolve conflict in the workplace and when effective negotiations.
- Define team building in top management and the pitfalls of executive teams.
