Course Details

​​In an information-based society, understanding data management is vital. The backbone of the Internet, Cloud Computing, and Business Intelligence are relational database management systems. The use and manipulation of data is the key to utilize business information to create a competitive advantage. This course introduces relational database management systems, data modeling, and artificial intelligence. Students will use Microsoft Access, a relational database management system, to create data models and build data applications. An introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning tools and models will also be included in the course.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explain when and why a database should be created.
  • Understand and Use database terminology.
  • Construct a database using a relational database management system.
  • Design and modify tables.
  • Explain and illustrate the data modeling process using normalization.
  • Build table relationships to meet business requirements.
  • Create single table and multiple-table based forms.
  • Search, modify, and analyze data using queries.
  • Create and customize reports to summarize and gain insights into data.
  • Export/Import data in various formats such as csv and xlsx.
  • Describe Machine Learning (ML) concepts and algorithms.
  • Conduct ML experiments using MS Azure cloud platform.
  • Describe the benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
  • Compare various prediction models such as regression and classification.
  • Carry out ML experiments using dataset preparation, training, and testing modules.
