Course Details
This introductory course provides an overview of television and video production with an emphasis on single camera and studio production techniques. Students will explore equipment operation in a hands-on learning environment, and will complete exercises that will provide practical knowledge of television studio and control room operations. The course will give students a solid foundation for further study in the television and video production field.
THIS IS NOT AN ONLINE COURSE. ATTENDANCE TO THE BURNABY CAMPUS IS REQUIRED. *The first class will be conducted ONLINE to be informed about the strict Covid19 Protocols that must be met before coming on site. Then attendance to the Broadcast Centre at the Burnaby campus on the dates and times shown on the registration page will be required for all subsequent classes, UNLESS Provincial Health Guidelines prohibit such activity. In this case, registered students will be notified of any changes. Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Create and shoot a video sequence.
Effectively shoot video with good composition.
Apply the process of producing a short television segment.
Explain the individual roles within a production team, including control room and studio positions.
Operate under supervision studio production equipment including cameras and audio equipment.
Operate under supervision control room production equipment including video production switchers.
