The Indigenous Initiatives team offers support services that are culturally appropriate to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students.

How we support your success

Our support services

Access a range of support services through Indigenous Initiatives

  • Computer lounge and study space: The Indigenous Gathering Place also offers free access to computers, printing, and phones, as well as a fully functional kitchen.
  • Elders on Campus: As keepers of Indigenous knowledge, Elders encourage and promote understanding and respect for Indigenous perspectives, culture, and values at BCIT. Elders on Campus are available appointment.
  • Scholarship and financial aid: Find out about scholarships, bursaries, and financial aid available to Indigenous Students at BCIT.
  • Indigenous student champions: Network with fellow Indigenous students who can help you navigate the transition to your first year at BCIT, and gain new friends along the way.
  • Indigenous Advisors: Get help with academic needs, referrals, and financial applications. Connect with an Advisor.

Program highlights

BCIT is committed to the recruitment and retention of Indigenous students. To facilitate this, designated seats have been implemented in a variety of programs.
