Course Overview
This course is designed to build on your practical experience and provide the advanced knowledge you need to confidently challenge the 3rd Class, Part A, Paper 2 certification exam under provincial regulations. Through engaging, industry-relevant training, you'll deepen your understanding of essential topics, including: Legislation and Codes for Power Engineers; ASME Code calculations (section I); Fuels, Combustion, and Flue Gas Analysis; Piping Design, Connections, and Support; Steam Traps, Water Hammer, and Insulation; Valves and Actuators; Electrical Theory and DC Machines; AC Theory and Machines; AC Systems, Switchgear, and Safety; Electrical Calculations; Control Loops and Strategies; Instrument and Control Devices; Distributed and Logic Control; Safety Management Systems; Fire Protection Systems within the scope of 3rd class, Part A, Paper 2. By combining this course with POWR 1320, POWR 1340, POWR 1350, and the required qualifying work experience, you will be well-prepared to pursue your 3rd Class Power Engineer certification through your provincial regulatory body.
