Course Overview
This course covers the principles of leading and managing people in an aviation environment. Topics will include motivation strategies, understanding human behavior, basic airline/airport organization and structure, function of a leader in an aviation operation, the role and responsibilities of first line leaders and ethics in the workplace. Students participate in classroom activities and have opportunities for active learning. Evaluation includes a case study, presentation and examination.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe/identify theories of leadership and competencies and its relationship in an aviation environment.
- Identify strategic challenges facing airlines and airports in their organizational structure and levels of leadership.
- Define the attributes of an effective leader in terms of characteristics, knowledge and skills.
- Describe how to build constructive interpersonal business relationships using interpersonal techniques.
- Describe the fundamentals of teamwork based on the model shared in the course.
- Identify the process necessary to solve problems and make decisions.
- Explain effective coaching techniques.
