Course Overview
This course introduces Green Building Construction concepts and practices. Topics include green building definition, guidelines, regulations and standards. Evaluation of cost/benefit of green construction methods and green construction rating systems. Relevant case studies will be reviewed. Two site visits will be included.

- This course is an approved elective to the Construction Operations Program. There may be site visits during this course, hard hats and steel toed boots are required - transportation is students responsibility. ***NOTE: Schedule may be adjusted to accommodate site visit. This course is eligible for students to receive funding through the StrongerBC future skills grant at www.bcit.ca/financial-aid/strongerbc-future-skills-grant/. Students will register for the course themselves and then apply for the StrongerBC future skills grant to cover payment (if eligible). The Winter 2026 StrongerBC future skills grant (FSG) will only be eligible for students continuing their FSG-eligible program that they started in Fall 2025.
