Course Overview
The introduction to Aircraft Maintenance course will give participants an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of tools, hand skills, servicing, maintenance releases, and safety that are used by Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. This two day immersive course will provide pilots, aviation enthusiasts, and prospective aircraft maintenance engineers the foundational knowledge to better understand the aircraft they fly, or one day hope to work on.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Assess operability of an aircraft
- Describe reciprocating and turbine engines
- Identify the requirements for a maintenance release, including Journey Log paperwork standards, applying MELs, and understanding the communication/involvement with an AME
- Describe safety risks and use safety precautions while working around aircraft
- Describe and demonstrate methods of servicing an aircraft
- Identify regulations and manuals required for aircraft maintenance and walk around procedures
- Demonstrate use of tools to perform elementary work on an aircraft
- Lockwire and carry out basic inspection/checks on reciprocating and turbine engines
