Course Overview
This introductory course provides an overview of television and video production with an emphasis on single camera and studio production techniques. Students will explore equipment operation in a hands-on learning environment, and will complete exercises that will provide practical knowledge of television studio and control room operations and positions. The course will give students a solid foundation for further study in the television and video production field. Successful completion of either this course or the BCST 0060 - Broadcast Television and Video Production pre-entry course fulfills the entrance requirement for Admission to the full-time Television & Video Production diploma program.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Create and shoot a video sequence.
- Effectively shoot video using strong compositional techniques.
- Produce a short television segment.
- Explain the individual roles within a production team, including control room and studio positions.
- Operate studio production equipment including cameras and audio equipment.
- Operate control room production equipment including video production switchers.
