Counselling practicum placements
BCIT Counselling & Student Development offers an enriching, hands-on practicum for graduate students preparing for careers in post-secondary counselling.
Across three days per week, you’ll gain experience in individual counselling, co-facilitating groups/workshops, outreach, and—when appropriate—same-day support for students. Training includes weekly individual supervision (with video-based feedback), bi-weekly group supervision and team consultation, and structured opportunities for observation and co-counselling. Practicum counsellors are encouraged to apply their developing theoretical orientation while working with concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship stress, trauma, and neurodiversity.
Schedule: Three days/week (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.), late August through April.
Apply by: Friday, January 30, 2026 (end of day); applications remain open until filled.
We’re excited to share more about our counselling practicum and the learning experiences it offers. If you have questions or would like to connect, please reach out to Kristin Konieczny at kkonieczny@bcit.ca. For key dates and application details, see the BCIT Counselling Practicum Overview below.
