Growing to Advance Your Career

Career success is different for everyone whether it is achieving personal fulfillment, finding job satisfaction, or advancing through promotions, new roles, or increased responsibilities.

At this presentation, you’ll hear inspiring stories and gain practical advice from BCIT alumni who have successfully navigated their own unique paths to career growth.

Speakers

Scott Comfort
With over 30 years of experience in construction leadership, Scott brings a strategic, solutions-focused approach that drives consistent, high-level performance across his teams. Dedicated to growth, lifelong learning, and sustainable building practices, Scott is passionate about mentoring and advancing greener, more efficient construction methods. In addition to accreditations from BCIT, Scott holds a Master’s in Leadership from Trinity Western University, and a Gold Seal from the CCA.

Chris Hudson
A proud BCIT alumnus, Chris has extensive leadership experience in both public and private sectors, including positions as National Director of Health, Safety and Labour Relations at LifeLabs, and Executive Director of Human Resources at the Vancouver School Board. Passionate about inclusive workplace cultures, Chris is also committed to advancing equity, diversity, and Truth and Reconciliation initiatives at BCIT.

Kara Kingston
Kara has over 25 years of experience in brand marketing, corporate communications, and sponsorships. She has led high-impact initiatives for national and international organizations, including Bell, ENMAX, Hill & Knowlton and Cossette, managing multi-million-dollar budgets and large teams. Notably, she was part of the core team delivering Bell’s premier national partnership of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Her expertise spans communications, partner engagement, special events, and strategic sponsorship activation. Kara holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Waterloo and a diploma in Marketing Communications from BCIT.

Edoardo De Martin
Edoardo is CEO and Co-Founder of Industrio AI, a Vancouver-based company accelerating AI adoption through custom, scalable software solutions. A former Microsoft and EA executive, he is a recognized leader in Canadian tech and has served on the boards of Innovate BC, the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, the Richmond Hospital Foundation, and as Chair of Canada’s Digital Supercluster.

Moderator

Farhan Virji
Farhan specializes in empowering agencies, brands, non-profits, and entrepreneurs to harness the power of social media. A graduate of BCIT’s Bachelor of Technology program, Farhan is a customer-focused executive with a passion for building teams, processes, and systems that enable organizations to scale without sacrificing the customer experience. Farhan also volunteers on the BCIT Alumni Association Board of Directors.
