Cycling

Cycling

BCIT encourages staff and students to take advantage of bicycle commuting as an alternative mode of transportation to and from our campuses. Cycling reduces BCIT’s carbon footprint and minimizes congestion around our campuses, as well as being a healthy way to travel.

Bike Routes & Commuting Information

BCIT’s campuses can be accessed by a number of bicycle routes. The primary source of bike maps is on the Translink’s Cycling in Metro Vancouver. Also, you can ride part of the way to campus; you can start or finish your trip by bus. Put your bike on one of the racks attached to the front of the buses and grab a seat!

Another cycling resource is the HUB Cycling, a charitable non-profit organization that promotes cycling in Metro Vancouver.

Cycling Facilities by Campus Location

All of BCIT campuses have a range of end of trip facilities, such as bike storage options, showers, personal lockers, bike repair stations and air pumps.

Cycling Community & Events

Bike Event Notice

GoByBikeBC Society’s Mission is to inspire everyone to go by bike – whether for work, play, well being, or the planet. To support their advocacy, they organize three GoByBike Weeks a year (Winter, Spring and Fall) during which riders are encouraged to log their rides for a chance to win prizes. Join the BCIT Bike Team on GoByBikeBC to connect with other BCIT riders and help advocate for bicycle safety in our community.

The purpose of the Cycling Committee is to help faculty, staff and students adopt a more sustainable commute and contribute to BCIT’s goal to become greenhouse gas neutral by encouraging people to ride their bikes to work, and increasing and improving campus bike facilities.
