Course Overview
This course provides theoretical exposure to fundamental 3D GIS tools and data structures. Students will also gain a practical understanding of 3D GIS computer applications. Topics covered include BIM and object file formats, data conversion and display, feature visualization, and 3D operations.

Upon successful completion, the student should be able to:
- Complete 3D GIS applications using a current industry standard software.
- Describe the structure of BIM data.
- Discuss approaches for 3D feature visualization.
- Identify the requirements for 3D model generation.
- Research and present a GIS technical topic to an advanced level GIS audience.
- Compare the problems in various GIS issues by listening to presentations by GIS researchers.
