Course Overview
Course content introduces the student to the various health and safety measures to be considered when working with patients in a hospital or private laboratory setting. The student will learn how to carry out a variety of basic health care procedures and become familiar with equipment commonly found in the patient care environment.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Maintain safety and comfort for the client, colleague, and self.
- Describe appropriate medical and/or surgical (sterile) asepsis when providing client care.
- Explain the required interventions when working with clients in limited complex and critical scenarios.
- Describe how to apply client-centered care in complex situations such as the critical care environment.
- Identify significant data that would need to be communicated to other health care professionals and how to do it in a legal, ethical, and professional manner.
- Describe how to collect relevant client information prior to performing diagnostic procedures safely and how to assess clients.
- Explain how to maintain professionalism through policies, procedures and processes in the clinical environment.
