Course Overview
Develops a basic understanding of the practices, components and materials employed in construction. Topics include the interpretation and creation of drawings, construction materials and processes, and the use and creation of standard symbols. AutoCAD software is used.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Interpret site plans, floor plans, mechanical system and electrical layouts.
- Identify standard building materials.
- Describe Canadian building practices.
- Create and modify mechanical systems drawings using AutoCAD software.
- Create and modify libraries of standard symbols.
