Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Solve arithmetic equations using quantities and units.
  • Solve simple algebraic expressions for one unknown.
  • Formulate algebraic expressions based on information presented in paragraph or diagram form.
  • Express compared quantities as ratios and proportions.
  • Define direct and inverse proportion.
  • Apply basic geometry and trigonometry to solve practical problems.
  • Calculate irregular areas and volumes using Simpson's rule.
  • Explain the concept of probability and calculate basic statistical functions for a set of data.
