About the program
The Fundamentals in Polytechnic Teaching Microcredential bundles three courses from the Associate Certificate in Polytechnic Teaching to provide participants with core foundational skills essential to teaching—an overview of basic instructional skills, assessment principles, and instructional strategies.
This microcredential provides a brief pathway to must-have instructional skills. For those wanting to continue their professional development, the microcredential ladders into the Associate Certificate in Polytechnic Teaching at BCIT.

Ongoing throughout the year.
Recommended for success
Before beginning this program, it is strongly recommended to have the following:
- Graduation from Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification
- Time management skills and the ability to allocate time for classes, as well as an additional 2-4 hours per week for reading, assignments, and studying
Additionally, meeting one of the following criteria is recommended:
- Current or recent experience teaching in a post-secondary polytechnic environment or
- The intention to teach in a polytechnic environment, along with a minimum of 3 years of post-secondary or trades training, or experience working in a specific field
International applicants
This program is available to international applicants.
Study permit: A valid BCIT study permit is required prior to starting the program.
Apply to program
Formal application to the microcredential is not required. Upon successful completion of the courses, email the program contact with your full name, student number, and mailing address to be issued a microcredential.
