VCC Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP)

You must first successfully complete the  Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) at BCIT.

The Learning and Teaching Centre (LTC) at BCIT offers the ISW throughout the year. You can find current classes here.

Classes are offered in the evenings and weekends, as well as during the day between term.

Once successfully completed, the ISW will transfer to VCC . VCC calls the ISW, PIDP 3220 Delivery of Instruction. Complete the form in the drop down menu below, Transferring your ISW credits to the PIDP at VCC.

Once you are accepted, you will register and pay for your courses. You are reimbursed on a course-by-course basis with confirmation of successful completion. However, BCIT will pay your transfer fee to apply to VCC, application fee to the program, tuition, and books.  BCIT does not pay for travel or parking.

The funding for this tuition reimbursement is from the Instructional Development Committee. (IDC).  The IDC is made up of  full-time and part-time FSA and BCGEU teaching faculty and management members from across the Institute. The committee allocates money annually for tuition reimbursement.

At the successful completion of each course, you will need to submit a variety of documents to be reimbursed. These include:

• Original receipt and supporting documentation from VCC (copy of a cheque, VISA or MC statement, cash receipt etc.,) for each course, that includes your name as well.
• credit card statement that aligns the course cost to your credit card (can use your mailed statement or download from your CC website. Please black out any information that does not relate to your VCC course).
• Documentation that confirms you passed the course,
• Invoice or receipt for your books
• Invoice for your transfer costs from BCIT to VCC (one time only)
• Invoice for your application fee to VCC (one time only)

NOTE: If your receipts are paper based (you paid in person), bought the book from a bookstore, take a photo and attach it to your Chrome River expense report. Keep all your receipts. You may be requested to show these at a later date.

In some instances you will already have taken PIDP 3220 Delivery of Instruction at VCC and paid yourself.  If this is the case, you are likely already in the PIDP but will need reimbursement for the course.  Once you have all your personal document in order (see above menu, How do I get reimbursed ?) you will need to complete the following:

1. Prepare a claim for reimbursement via the Chrome River system (BCIT’s new PD, Purchase Card reconciliation, Travel and Expense program).
2. The claim process summary/steps can be found at Chrome report (please attach all supporting documents, credit card statements and corresponding receipts to the expense report).
3. Please send a PDF copy of your Chrome report to BCIT_LTCINFO@bcit.ca BEFORE you hit the submit button (this way we will have a chance to review it and advise on any changes needed before you send it to Brian Hosier for approval).
4. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for processing and payment. Finance is very efficient once they receive all the correct document.

Once you have taken the Instructional Skills Workshop at BCIT and wish to continue on with the PIDP follow these steps when applying for an exemption of credits.

1. Download and complete the Application for Exemption Form [PDF]. This is a fillable pdf. Add your digital signature. If you cannot  digitally sign, print the form and then sign.
2. Add the date you completed the ISW.
3. Ensure you send the required funds.
4. Attach your ISW certificate.
5. Scan and send to transfercredit@vcc.ca
6. Keep a copy for your own records

Lost your ISW certificate?

• Download and complete the Transfer Credit Form
• Email: develop@bcit.ca and in the subject line indicate you are requesting a letter from the Learning and Teaching Centre confirming your successful completion in an iSW.
• Attach this letter to your Application for Exemption Form and send to: sie@vcc.ca

Any application or exemption fees when applying for the PIDP will be reimbursed to you as per the BCIT reimbursement policy.
