The Instructional Development Committee strives to enhance teaching and learning at BCIT by funding efforts that promote teaching excellence, including tuition reimbursement for specific programs.
Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP)
BCIT supports Vancouver Community College’s PIDP, a well-established diploma for instruction in post-secondary, business, industry, and non-traditional learning environments. The PIDP requires eight core courses and seven electives for a total of 30 credits. FSA and BCGEU employees may be reimbursed for part or all of their VCC tuition fees, books, and related costs.
Reimbursement Sources
The Instructional Development Fund provides tuition assistance for FSA members, either full-time faculty or part-time instructors who are currently teaching at BCIT. More information for FSA members can be found below. Other groups can obtain information from the following sources:
- Full-time BCGEU vocational instructors: see BCGEU Faculty 0.6% PD Fund
- BCGEU support staff: see BCIT Professional Development Fund for BCGEU Support Staff
BCIT Laddering Opportunity
All BCIT employees can complete the first part of the PIDP tuition-free through the Associate Certificate in Polytechnic Teaching. See the other information on this page for more details.
