This course builds on GVRD Automotive Refinishing Emission Regulation Bylaw No. 1296, 2019 and GVRD Air Quality Management Bylaw No. 1086, 2008 looking at past application of the regulation and best practices implementing the regulations in collision repair shops. Participants in this course should have the foundational knowledge of air contaminants as covered in the prerequisite VOC-Clearing the air course.

This course requires that you have taken the prerequisite ABOD 1007 VOC – Clearing the Air course in the online format in the past two years at BCIT. Please take ABOD 1007 VOC – Clearing the Air course if you have not completed the updated online course, this is your first time taking the VOC course, or the last time you completed a VOC course was something other than the BCIT VOC – Clearing the Air online course. This is a self-paced study course with 1 online meeting with instructor. Meeting schedule: April 29th (6pm – 7pm). You have 2 weeks to complete all the coursework and the final exam. To register, please list an email that you will check often and one that will be used for course primary mode of communication.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain best practices to implement Metro Vancouver Automotive Refinishing Regulations to control VOCs
- Show practices of tracking VOC material sent for disposal and recycling
- Discuss how different materials are tracked for VOC contaminants
- Interpret Greater Vancouver Regional District initial “Automotive Refinishing Emission Regulation Bylaw No. 1086, 2008"
- Apply Metro Vancouver updated regulatory requirements of “Automotive Refinishing Emission Regulation Bylaw No. 1296, 2019"
