Course Overview
This course teaches clear, correct, concise, technical writing for the robotics field. Students learn how to organize technical information, illustrate documents, write routine letters and memos, prepare instructions, and produce a simple user manual. Students also learn how to prepare and deliver technical briefings.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Write clear, concise sentences and paragraphs.
- Accurately assess the audience for any given piece of written or oral communication and construct that communication appropriately to the intended audience.
- Identify the purpose of any given piece of written or oral communication and produce work suitable for that purpose.
- Lay out memos, e-mails, and business letters according to accepted formats.
- Write memos, e-mails, and business letters appropriate to their audience and purpose.
- Present written documents in an accessible form, using headings, lists, and white space.
- Deliver clearly structured, audible oral presentations using appropriate visual aids.
- Write a complete set of technical instructions.
- Produce, format, and integrate suitable graphics for technical documents.
- Produce a simple, illustrated user manual for an automated device.
- Critically evaluate information to determine if it is accurate, relevant, and complete, and to use critical thinking to develop strong arguments.
