Course Overview
An integrative course that ties together many operations management concepts in the exploration of large-scale, company-wide computer systems called Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. The major systems available are reviewed. Implementation procedures, problems and business issues are explored. Specific ERP systems used are SAP and SYSPRO. At the conclusion of the course students are able to participate in the selection, installation and maintenance of an ERP system.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the difference between the functional structure of an organization and business processes.
- Understand the basic elements of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System.
- Understand and describe basic business transactions in an ERP system.
- Understand the advantages of an integrated business system.
- Understand where ERP technology fits in the deployment of company strategy.
- Recognize and measure the value or savings of a properly implemented ERP systems.
- Describe implementation methodologies.
- Identify the important factors to consider when selecting and ERP system.
- Describe the distribution and licensing modules of ERP system.
- Describe the impact of emerging technologies on ERP systems.
