Course Overview
This exam refresher course provides trades workers with theory, practical information, concepts, and competencies to prepare them to write the Steamfitter/Pipefitter Inter-Provincial Red Seal exam. Information about the eligibility requirements for writing the IP exam must be obtained from Skilled Trades BC at www.skilledtradesbc.ca or 1-866-660-6011.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe safe work procedures and policies.
- Describe tools and equipment, such as hand tools; power tools; ladders and elevated platforms; and rigging.
- Perform calculations for piping fabrication.
- Perform conversions and heat load calculations.
- Interpret information found in drawings.
- Identify codes, standards and organizations.
- Describe manufacturer and supplier documentation.
- Describe the components used in steamfitting/pipefitting.
- Describe the process to fabricate, install, and maintain a piping systems.
- Describe effective communication practices.
- Describe hydronic systems.
- Describe sections of American Standard of Mechanical Engineering code.
- Describe high and low-pressure steam systems.
- Describe specialty piping systems.
