Course Overview
This course builds on the listening, speaking and writing skills acquired in COMM 1184. Students will focus research, scientific writing, reporting, and a technical research communication project. Emphasis is on communication applications in the prosthetics/orthotics field.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the genre of scientific writing for prosthetics and orthotics.
- Write with conventions of scientific writing.
- Use conventions to structure a research report based on a unique research design and self-compiled data.
- Critically research, evaluate, and summarize technical documents and scientific articles.
- Write a research / technical report to industry standards.
- Edit and revise all documents to an acceptable industry standard.
- Prepare and deliver effective informal and formal oral presentations.
- Use PowerPoint to enhance oral presentations.
- Critically evaluate information to determine if it is accurate, relevant, and complete, and to use critical thinking to develop strong arguments.
- Participate in effective group meetings.
