Course Overview
In this course, students will learn how to safely perform engine maintenance practices while at the industry partners' facility. Students will become familiar with the facilities' safety infrastructure: they will learn the location of the first aid room, where fire extinguishers are stored, where the escape plan is posted including the location of muster stations. Furthermore, they will learn all relevant safety precautions to follow in the event of an emergency at the industry partner facility. As part of their safety training, students will study foreign object damage procedures in order to safely work on gas turbine engines and they will select and operate the appropriate lifting device while working with heavy objects in a shop environment.
