Course Overview
This introductory course in occupational health and safety equips students with the foundational knowledge required to work safely within an aviation environment. Learners will examine key regulatory frameworks, including the Canada Labour Code Part II, Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Aviation Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and the Workers Compensation Act administered by WorkSafeBC. The course also addresses critical workplace topics, including fire safety, aviation-specific hazards and risk management, workplace drug and alcohol use policies, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). In addition, students will complete WorkSafeBC Basic First Aid and WHMIS training as part of the course.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe key government regulatory requirements and practices for aviation personnel
- Identify common aviation workplace hazards and apply basic risk control measures.
- Explain due diligence and how it applies in the workplace
- Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in aviation environments.
- Describe safe practices for fire safety, hazardous materials, and workplace conduct, including WHMIS principles.
- Apply Basic First Aid through practice simulations
