Course Overview
This course focuses on two core BCCNM nursing practice processes of 'reflective practice and continuing professional development' and 'clinical judgement and decision-making'. The significance of reflection for effective, professional practice and development of professional knowledge in accordance with legislation, the CNA Code of Ethics, and relational capacities is explored. With guidance, students will develop reflective skills to help navigate challenge and uncertainties, to develop insight and self-awareness, and to improve self-assessment of competence to achieve learning outcomes. Students will critically reflect on their own clinical judgment process through exploration of common elements, themes, and influencing factors and develop a clinical judgment approach to support quality, safe client care. This blended course will occur using individual and group reflective learning activities that contribute towards the student's professional practice portfolio.
