Course Overview
The course prepares students for interactions in the rapidly growing fields of interactive and traditional media industries by identifying, analyzing, and implementing the trends, concepts, and technical knowledge needed to thrive. By studying how media technologies develop, operate, converge/diverge, and impact society in our community and in the world, this course equips students with the tools to think critically about media, sustainability innovation and its effects on culture and the future of the creative marketplace. Aside from tools and best practices, students examine the challenges and opportunities of designing projects that take advantage of new and emerging technologies to increase the creative economy's potential.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Critically examine how disruptive technologies impact project design, implementation, and transformation in the creative industries
- Analyze major applications of technology in the workplace, as well as the implications of that technology for organizational change
- Analyze global trends in the creative industries and their potential to impact the growth of the local economy
- Apply forecasting tools to follow trends within the creative industries
- Design a project plan encompassing a new and emerging technology and illustrating its impact on a creative organization or industry sector
- Research and analyze the selection, implementation, and evaluation of tools, and emerging technologies in the creative industries
- Compare the implications of current and emerging technologies in social ethics and the global workplace
- Differentiate disruptive technologies and their impacts by examining their unique characteristics and variations
- Assess how the specific dynamics of physical, and virtual spaces influence creative economy activities
- Demonstrate the importance of decolonization, ethical principles, professional practice and leadership when analyzing and adopting new technologies
- Research and analyze the challenges and opportunities the creative economy faces due to decolonization, sustainability, globalization, digital transformation, digitization, management, and leadership
- Produce comprehensive reports on topics related the growth of the creative economy, global markets and sustainability innovation
