Course Overview
This course builds upon the introductory employment communication skills developed in COMM 2212. Through various exercises such as cold calling, informational interviewing, role playing, and research, students will learn how to approach potential employers, conduct themselves in job interviews while seeking work, and be effective team members in industrial settings.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Tailor personal résumés and cover letters to specific industry requirements.
- Carry out in-depth research on employers and industry segments to prepare for practicum placements and post-graduation employment.
- Use persuasive communication techniques in job interviews and business presentations.
- Assess how social media technologies are used in television and video production networking for employment and business.
- Create and manage a professional persona and online reputation using publicly accessible social media and professional networking websites.
- Grow and maintain a professional network of industry contacts.
- Write a business plan or a similar document on other entrepreneurial employment in cooperation with BUSA 1201 Television and Video Production Management.
- Critically evaluate information to determine if it is accurate, relevant, and complete, and to use critical thinking to develop strong arguments.
