Course Overview
This is a project course: exposure to operations improvement is achieved through a consulting project for a client. Consulting, teamwork, and project management skills are developed. Practical application of course content from the first year of the program is stressed.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Apply the criteria for planning and conducting a thorough and professional project study.
- Develop a personal fact-finding interview style to extract needed information related to the study.
- Differentiate between cause and effect when analysing a problem.
- Develop a project plan and estimate time requirements.
- Develop a Gantt chart.
- Develop a Terms of Reference and appropriately modify it as the scope, objective(s) and criteria of evaluation evolve from data collection.
- Explain the role played by the Terms of Reference in the planning and implementation of the study's strategies.
- Select and apply the appropriate fact-finding tools to record both the current and proposed processes and procedures.
- Develop and implement an effective method of ongoing communications (including meetings) with the project sponsor and faculty advisor.
- Implement a project plan and manage activities to stay on schedule.
- Develop apply the skills required to work effectively as a team member on a project.
- Maintain a project diary that describes both the attempted project processes and possible improvements in the process that might be used in another study.
- Select and use an appropriate report format and writing style in order to satisfy the project requirements.
- Prepare and deliver an effective oral presentation.
