Course Overview
This integrative course is designed to dramatically improve the quality of student decision-making in a time and risk sensitive global environment. Enables students to utilize the principles of strategic management enhanced by contemporary new analytical concepts and ethical constructs. Simulates real-world decisions via team case studies and the application of management decision support systems while drawing upon relevant current business issues to help students understand the real world challenges that business executives confront in managing sustainable businesses.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze business problems using a structured decision model.
- Assess the competitive global economy and relate the conclusions to various business situations.
- Identify and analyze government impacts on business situations.
- Evaluate and apply ethical principles, including utilitarian, rights, justice, and care approaches to ethics, stakeholder management, and corporate social responsibility to modern business problems.
- Evaluate and assess the role of government in society, the main elements of government structure and the government public policy process, and the main ways business and government interact with one another.
- Apply strategic management techniques to specific public and private sector organizations, thus effecting desired changes within a comprehensive, responsive management assessment system.
- Adapt various decision tools and academic theories to case studies and projects (including: external environment analysis, value chain analysis, standard financial statement analysis, ethical and risk management analysis).
- Recommend and critically defend solutions to business problems.
- Identify implementation issues when developing a solution to a business problem.
- Apply the principles of Sustainable Competitive Advantage to business situations.

- Enrollment is restricted to students accepted into the Flexible Learning (formerly Part-Time) BBA Degree Program. Registration approval is automatically given upon full acceptance into the program. This is a hybrid course. Classes will alternate between in-person at the Burnaby campus and online via MS Teams. See the above schedule for exact dates. Please note there are no classes on September 30th and November 11th due to the stat holidays.
