Course Overview
This course covers how refinishing products affect the environment and how to minimize those effects. Course content includes safe handling, storage, and disposal methods of products containing volatile organic compounds (VOC) as regulated by GVRD Automotive Refinishing Emission Regulation Bylaw No. 1296, 2019 and GVRD Air Quality Management Bylaw No. 1086, 2008.

- This is a self-paced study course with 1 online meeting with instructor. Meeting schedule: Jan 19th (6pm – 7pm). You have 2 weeks to complete all the coursework and the final exam. To register, please list an email that you will check often and one that will be used for course primary mode of communication. This course is eligible for students to receive funding through the StrongerBC future skills grant at www.bcit.ca/financial-aid/strongerbc-future-skills-grant/. Students will register for the course themselves, and then apply for the StrongerBC future skills grant to cover payment (if eligible). The Winter 2026 StrongerBC future skills grant (FSG) will only be eligible for students continuing their FSG-eligible program that they started in Fall 2025.
