This course covers how Canadian railways position themselves in a competitive transportation industry and how employees contribute to the success of a railway's business operations.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Describe the railway as a business enterprise, competing in open markets and managing resources to produce profits;
Describe railways' financial analysis for determining the effectiveness of railway operations;
Describe how customer service contributes to a railway's ability to compete in the transportation marketplace; and,
Investigate and discuss major business and environmental changes in the Canadian railways.
