Course Details

This course provides basic knowledge of the operation, maintenance and construction of the municipal waste water collection system. Fundamental concepts include: wastewater system components; system inspection using CCTV, dye, lamp and repair procedures. This course is designed to assist candidates wishing to write the Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) Level 1 exam. EOCP examination time and fee information will be made available to all qualified students.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful compleltion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Describe a waste water collection system and identify its components.
  • Identify various type of sewer pipes, fittings and apparatuses, calculate sewer pipeline grades and inflows.
  • Perform duties safely, and develop safe work procedures.
  • Identify and evaluate damages due to corrosion, cracking, crashing, soil setting and root intrusion.
  • Effectively use inspection and testing tools and procedures including closed-circuit television, smoke and dye testing, and pipeline lamping.
