Course Overview
This course will introduce you to the basic principles of human resource (HR) management as they apply to the nonprofit and fundraising sector. You will have the opportunity to explore the role of an executive director in relation to human resource management through assignments and discussions.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the relationship of senior management in relation to an effective HR program for both paid staff and volunteers.
- Illustrate the legal framework and laws that govern the employment relationship in these organizations.
- Demonstrate ways management can create a culture of well-being.
- Prepare recruitment and selection processes that are relevant for both paid staff and volunteers.

- Design a rewards and recognition program that is relevant for a nonprofit and/or fundraising organization.
- Generate a performance management system.
- Develop a policy to address the issue of progressive discipline of both paid and unpaid staff.
