Course Overview
The focus of the course will be on designing and detailing freestanding and built-in furniture, for commercial spaces. Course material will be enhanced with hands-on experience in the joinery shop, through JOIN 4350, Joinery Fundamentals for Interior Design, which may be taken concurrently.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify a variety of standard millwork construction materials and their appropriate applications.
- Analyze client needs to design an appropriate and functional piece of custom millwork.
- Explore creative design solutions for custom millwork.
- Assess whether a specification or detail is applicable and/or required.
- Produce detailed drawings for a variety of commercial interior millwork pieces.
- Make appropriate materials and hardware selections for specific functional considerations and usage.
- Prepare complete specifications for custom millwork.
