Course Overview
This course is designed to provide the necessary skills and knowledge for an individual to successfully work in the finishing department of a production or custom wood manufacturing company. Areas of training include wood identification and characteristics, wood preparation, coating and stain technology, finishing schedules and systems and a review of spray finishing equipment and techniques. Upon successful completion, a BCIT Statement of Completion will be issued. Safety boots and glasses required.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of Level 3: Wood Finishing, the student will have all the necessary skills and knowledge to work in a production or custom furniture shop or factory facility. The student will have comprehensive knowledge about types of wood, surface preparation, preparation tools and material, specialized coatings and finishes, schedules and application techniques. Custom colour mixing will also be covered.
