Course details

​This course builds upon the foundation of Wireless Mobile Application Development 1. High performance multimedia application as well as applications involving 2D/3D animation are developed for mobile platforms and evaluated. Impact of network connectivity as well as the underlying operating system on the performance of such applications is studied. This is a lab-based course in which students gain hands-on experience by developing the said applications on mobile platforms.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Evaluate multimedia APIs and support for 2D/3D graphics, animation and games on mobile platforms.
  • Identify and address performance issues associated with the transport of media to/from these applications over the network.
  • Evaluate the impact of overheads such as data encryption to support privacy.
  • Develop mobile apps that consume and/or produce multimedia.
  • Develop mobile apps that render 2D/3D graphics and animation to identify and address underlying performance issues associated with supporting high frame rate.
