​The focus of this course is to introduce freehand drafting techniques as they pertain to interior design. Students will produce schematic two-dimensional drawings for interior design applications, through implementation of scale, line weights, lettering, dimensions, and layouts.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Interpret architectural plans, elevations, and sections.
  • Demonstrate proficiency using imperial and metric scales.
  • Create orthographic drawings of objects and interior space.
  • Produce scaled freehand drawings using appropriate line weights, layouts, and lettering techniques.
  • Explore various dimensioning applications and terminology.
  • Apply dimensions to floor plans.
  • Measure interior components and spaces to produce scaled plans, elevations, and sections.
  • Demonstrate freehand techniques to represent graphically interior components within two-dimensional drawings.
  • Apply referencing to a set of drawings.
  • Draw floor plans, elevations, and sections to scale, using symbols and conventions.
